Further Notes on the Officers of The Barony of Aarquelle

On Officer’s Responsibilities
All Baronial officers have specific tasks.  They are supervised by, and file regular reports with a Kingdom officer.  Those reports are copied to the Baronial Seneschal and Baron & Baroness as a courtesy.  Candidates for these offices are presented to the Kingdom level officer, who has the option of approving them or not.   They find deputies to assist with their offices and responsibilities.  Deputies are often the “Officers in training” for that office.

On Greater Officers
All officers work hard to serve the Barony of Aarquelle.  Within the Society for Creative Anachronism, certain Offices are referred to as Greater Offices.  This designation is applied to the Offices that are most crucial for the day-to-day operation of the group.

On Emergency Deputies
All of the Greater Offices, Seneschal, Exchequer, Fjalarr, Knight Marshal, Minister of Arts and Sciences, and Webminister, as Greater Officers, should have a fully trained Emergency Deputy— sometimes referred to as a Drop Dead Deputy (a bit of gallows humor).  The Emergency Deputy should be ready to assume the duties of the officer should that officer be unable to fulfill their duties.
